  • Thoughts on a Trampoline
    M mamacitarita

I feel like the risk of injury is high, although our pediatrician owns one for her family so I figure it can't be that bad hahaha

But as I'm thinking about it, I haven't heard of anyone getting hurt on a personal trampoline (something that required going to the doctor) but I have heard of several injuries/broken bones from trampoline parks

  • sleepover
    M mamacitarita

I came here to ask this question. I hate restricting bc I had sleepovers when I was young and loved them. It's also where I got into trouble...
For now (elementary) we do not do them. Not only can scary things happen but I've also heard of girls being mean and unsupervised into the wee hours of the morning. And there's no escaping because my kids don't have phones yet. Why are sleepovers a thing in 2024? I sorta feel like it's an 80s/90s thing that should've fizzled out now that we know more?
I'm keeping it a "no" for now but I am curious how others are navigating. I'm still trying to figure out something.

  • Screen-Free Evenings?
    M mamacitarita

This is something we have implemented since the time change. Still working on 100% consistency but we have drastically cut back on screens once the sun is down. Coloring, Guess in 10 (card game), Headbandz, log reading minutes for prizes, make bracelets.
Our kids have started calling us out on our phone use which is uncomfortable and a good wake up call

  • Weekday Playdates: how many?
    M mamacitarita

We do one of Fridays and maybe one more if it's a light week in other areas of our lives. I know other families who do them constantly and I don't get how they do it. My kids need time to chill at home in their own space and not rush around/be with friends constantly. I also like the family time but do think having friends over is important too. 1-2 times a week max. Usually on weekends we get togther with other families

  • Credit Card Amount per month?
    M mamacitarita

I ask myself this everyday @LoveThisChapter how do people do it??? Life is so expensive. Ours can fluctuate but it's never lower than $15k. That's even with doing breakfast for dinner once a week and packing lunches for my kids

  • Mom Rage
    M mamacitarita

An SSRI helped me a lot but also naming my feeling. I tell my kids "I feel myself getting frustrated" and I think it helps them behavior correct as much as it helps me by giving me a split second. I've done it with my newborns too. I think advocating for what you need. Looking back I always felt bad asking for help from even my partner. Almost like I was asking too much. Which was a total lie, I should've asked for more. It's insane what moms go through during pregnancy and postpartum.

  • Smart watch- non apple watch
    M mamacitarita

We also have a GABB for when my son rides his bike around the neighborhood. Bonus is for events like Halloween and carnival at school so I can easily track him.

  • Average amount of sex per week??
    M mamacitarita

It all depends on what is going on in our life at the moment. Work is stressful and kids aren't sleeping? Maybe once a month. If things are running smoothly in our household and everyone is sleeping then maybe once a week.

  • Moving to toddler bed— how do I keep my headstrong toddler in his room
    M mamacitarita

I'm dying because this is us too ha! Short term melatonin until they are in a groove. I'm not a dr and this is definitely not medical advice, just something that has worked for us. Also, standing right outside their door for the first week or so....it's exhausting but worth it in the long run.

  • How do you pick school?!
    M mamacitarita

Probably not the answer you're hoping for but a lot of trial and error. And what works for one kid may not be the best fit for the next. Nothing is permanent, take it year by year-hopefully that takes some pressure off!

  • My 3.5 year old won’t eat vegetables.
    M mamacitarita

Smoothies! Can make a smoothie and freeze it in popsicle containers. Works like a charm. Call it "ice cream" whatever it takes ha!

  • How to encourage solo play?
    M mamacitarita

So brutal. Busy Toddler has an array of activities, although a lot of them require set up. I find that mine are always happiest with water. Spray bottles to spray the ground or the windows, freeze toys in ice cube trays and let them crack it open, put them in the bath with glow sticks or a popsicle and a tonies box to tell them a story. Magnatiles is another great one. Can stick them to the garage door or a cookie sheet.

  • Pelvic Floor PT ?
    M mamacitarita

Have we tried pelvic floor therapy? Has it helped with strength/anything else? I'm currently having lower back pain and my doctor recommended it but wondering if it's worth the hassle.
