  • Biting at daycare

As a speech/language pathologist my first thought to explore is that a child that bites is typically trying to communicate in some way. I would be interested to know the age of your child, what the situations are where the biting occurs, does your child have words yet, etc. If not, I would seek an evaluation from a speech/language pathologist to help come up with methods for the child to communicate to replace the biting.

  • Screen-Free Evenings?
    Love SpeaksL Love Speaks

I am a Speech/Language Pathologist and a mom of college age children and I love this so much! It is wonderful seeing parents of young children tackle this problem! The overuse of technology at a young age can negatively affect communication growth, social skills, increase anxiety, and is related to inattention! Hang in there with this!

  • Dyslexia: Advice, tips or guidance?
    Love SpeaksL Love Speaks

I am a Speech/Language Pathologist who supports dyslexia in my private practice in collaboration with dyslexia therapists. A child with Dyslexia's brain is usually exhausted by the end of the day! I suggest audio books/ using colored rulers can help for the eyes to focus on the sentences being read and not visually getting over-stimulated, setting realistic goals so the child feels successful, having the child work with a reading tutor who can make reading fun and interesting so you don't have to have this battle at home. Remember this time will pass! It is challenging but hang in there with them!
