ADHD but Not Ready to Medicate

Moms with ADHD kids but aren't ready to medicate. What are you doing to support your child? She needs a boost and I don't want her confidence to be effected but I want to try and support her in other areas before jumping to medication.

If you haven’t already tried OT it helps with the stimuli overload their ADHD brains have. I always appreciate learning tools tailored for my child specifically. I have 2 with ADHD. Good luck Mama you got this!

It’s going to take work but it sounds like you’re up for it!
She needs to be set up for success-charts, check lists, reminders, timers, getting on her level when giving instructions, eye contact (not yelling across the house) for any type of directions, reward charts for dopamine
How are her anxiety levels? I might get her evaluated by a LPC for cognitive behavioral therapy.
There are also executive functioning coaches depending on her age.
You can ask her pediatrician or specialist about supplements such as gaba and/or magnesiumBest of luck! It will be her super power one day

Okay so I like to be as homepatjic as possible, however my kid continued to struggle with school despite tutoring and being a collab class. After putting her on the generic form of Vyvance (which can't not be used to make street drugs like Ritalin and Aderol), she has become a straight A student and able to execute more directions at home without forgetting. Not to mention, her confidence level with school is finally coming along and so excited to do so well after her hard efforts have felt like they are finally being paid off. I swear I used to be so anti- but the difference overall in my kid's success and happiness makes me feel like it was the right decision for her. Love this topic! We do a good Omega 3, multi vitamin and magnesium, we use Nordic Naturals for the Omega 3 and Mary Ruth's for the others. Limited refined sugars, no gluten, starting to limit dairy. We don't do food dyes, annatto or caramel color. And lots and lots of sunshine and outside play. My son is a totally different kid than he used to be.
