First time mom here-I have a 7.5 month old who is generally a great sleeper and now I’m all worried her schedule will get messed up with the time change. What is y’all’s best idea on navigating daylight savings with kiddos since it is coming up next week? Thank yall in advance!

This makes so much sense that you are feeling a little worried about it because it can feel like such a big change! But my biggest advice as a sleep consultant and mom would be try not to stress too much about it! When you wake up on Sunday morning, start your day with coffee before you go around and change the clocks in the house. Then you can approach the change in a few different ways: gradually adjust, use the new time as a way to have an earlier bedtime, or do nothing and let it naturally play out. As far as nap timing, if your 7.5 month old is still using wake windows for nap time, you could just focus on those, but if your baby is on a set nap schedule (i.e. 9 and 2), you can adjust by 30 minutes each day so that after a few days you are back at the normal time. Hope that helps! You've got this!

This used to STRESS ME OUT when my kids were babies. I remember pushing bedtime either later or earlier by 15min every few days leading up.
Do your same routine. And if it gets crazy just know it won’t last forever. Maybe a few rough days

I used to stress out about it, but they adapt pretty quickly! I just pushed bedtime accordingly day of and didn't do any of the prep days ahead of it. For example, for this upcoming daylight savings if they go to bed at 7 p.m. and wake at 7 am, then I would put to bed a little later like 7:30/8 (or until they last) in hopes that they sleep in a little. It will just take a couple days to adjust but won't all of a sudden make them an awful sleeper!

Mom on Call or Taking Care of Babies always has good info around the time changes.
