Any advice on making homework less miserable? One of us always ends in tears. I hated homework when I was in school and I double hate it as a parent. Helppppppp waving my white flag before the semester has even started. My later elementary kid has mild adhd.

We have used a general tutor, adult or high schooler to help with homework. Sometimes it is worth preserving the relationship of parent and child to outsource this area. Your child might behave differently for you than with an outsider. Save your conflicts for other areas of parenting. Kumon can help with homework in addition to mastery of math skills. Additionally your ADHD kid might benefit from throwing the football while you call out vocab or spelling or walk the block and do math facts. AND you are not alone!! This is super common so I can't wait to hear what others say.

It was hard for us too! We ended up hiring a tutor which has helped so so much. Also, I've started off-loading homework duties to my husband who has way more patience than I do.
